My career in furniture started at about age 8 with my parents running an upholstery shop until after I was out of high school and attending the Art Institute of Pittsburgh for Fashion Merchandising. I helped them all the time with whatever they needed and was successful at stripping antique furniture by hand. I concentrated on art in high school and loved fashion, too.
After spending years in fashion retail management, I wanted to be more creative. I got a job with a small custom furniture store in Hermitage, PA. I studied and learned so much about design and applied my color and pattern knowledge to furniture. I relocated a few times and worked in a couple different types of furniture stores. I found that my love lies with higher end custom furniture and home design. I am at home with PerLora.
Favorite Thing About Working at Perlora
Since I love helping people, my favorite thing has to be meeting new customers that become clients as I work with them. I enjoy using a variety of textures, patterns, and colors to create beautiful and comfortable living spaces that fits each client's style and budget. My co-workers and bosses are wonderful to work with and I am happy to be in a small, family owned furniture store again!
More About Katherine
I have been a single mom for a long time to a gorgeous daughter, Sydney, who is attending the Cleveland Institute of Art studying jewelry design. I am so happy she is following my artsy footsteps! I plan on another visit to Europe to visit my sister with Sydney as soon as possible!! I have 3 kitties at home who keep me company while Sydney is in school. I love to make handmade cards and sew handbags from recycled upholstery fabrics in my spare time.
